Surface Preparation

Cement based walls and screeds should be left to cure for at least 14 days prior to application of Porcelain Tile Fix.

Rough or uneven concrete surfaces should be made flat and smooth. All substrates should be in a good and strong condition. All substrates should also be clean and free from any loose particles, dust, oil, grease, the curing agents, or paint. Tiles to be fixed should be clean and free from any surface contamination. If the surface is dry and in hot weather, pre-wet it prior to the application of Porcelain Tile Fix without leaving excess water.

Application procedures

Application procedures

-The entire contents of the bag should be mixed together with water, in one container using a hand drill equipped with a mixing blade or high shear stationary mixer.

-Partial small amounts may be mixed manually, with a trowel, or other suitable hand mixing tools.

-Add 5.5 - 6.5 liters of fresh, cool, clean water in one deep container. Then, add the contents of the 20 kg bag gradually while mixing till the mixture is uniform and free of lumps. Leave the mixed material for 10 minutes and remix for one minute.

-Porcelain Tile Fix should be applied while the mortar is fresh and workable (within Pot Life).

Apply Porcelain Tile Fix to the prepared surface using the flat side of the trowel while pressing firmly into the prepared substrate.

-Use suitable notched trowel to ensure full bedding of the tile with 2 – 3 mm minimum uniform thickness.

-Spread Porcelain Tile Fix in areas not more than 1.0 m2.

-Press tiles firmly into place and gently adjust the level by twisting slightly within 15 minutes ensuring proper transfer of 85% of the mortar to the back of the tiles.

-Leave tiles to dry for at least 24 hours before starting grouting. Use Tile Grout according to joint width.

Composition

Porcelain Tile Fix is manufactured from carefully selected raw materials which include a blend of special high strength hydraulic binders, selected well graded fillers, and special additives to enhance workability and bonding characteristics.

Standards

Porcelain Tile Fix is formulated to comply with ANSI 118.4 and EN 12004 standards.

SASO EN 12004:2021 (C2TES1)

Mix Proportion

Approx. 5.5-6.5 liters of water/ 20 kg bag.

Coverage

3 – 5 kg/m2

(Coverage rate may vary depending on surface condition, the type of towel used).

Characteristics

-Easy to use and apply. Only requires the addition of water on site for ease of use.

- Raw materials are selected according to the highest quality control standards.

- Excellent mixing and workability characteristics.

- The simplicity of usage and application gives very high productivity rates.

- Exact mixing ratios and homogeneity of the blend, due to the factory fully computerized production process.

- Excellent water and sag resistance.

- Excellent bonding characteristics to plastered substrates and fair face concrete.

-Flexible. Very good resistance to substrate vibrations.

- Long open time and pot life.

Important Notes

- Do not apply Porcelain Tile Fix on movement joints or on dynamic cracked plastered walls. Expansion joints should be included as per the substrate design and carried out through tile applications.

- Using cold water for mixing allows longer pot life and improved workability.

- Use Porcelain Tile Fix White when fixing white or light color stone.

- Porous surfaces such as gypsum plaster boards should be sealed prior to tile installation using Porcelain Tile Fix.

- Do not apply Porcelain Tile Fix on metal surfaces. Use plastic spacers to leave the required joint width around each tile according to pattern and architecture recommendations.

- Leave 2mm minimum joint width around tiles.

Storage

Shelf life is 12 months from manufacturing date, in a dry covered storage area.

Health and Safety

While using the product, gloves and goggles should be worn. Splashes to skin or eyes should be washed with clean water, in case of prolonged irritation, seek medical advice.

What you should know before buying
  • Marble is a natural product and variations in colors and veins are possible. Color coordination is the responsibility of the installer.
  • All parts must be checked before installation in terms of color and size.
  • No claim is allowed, regardless of the defect, after the goods have been installed.
  • We recommend that the buyer take an additional 7% quantity, for fear that the quantity will run out later or that new merchandise will arrive that is different in color and size.
  • It is recommended to use a good quality, clean type of glue and mortar.
How to calculate the amount of tiles required

Calculating the quantity of tiles for a room requires knowing

1) Calculate the area of the rooms (length * width)

2) Determining the dimensions of the slab used

3) The required quantity of ceramic tiles = room area divided by the area of one tile

Taking into account an increase of between 10% and 20% to avoid shortages in cutting and breaking operations.

Calculating the required quantities of ceramic tiles for bathrooms and kitchens:

The method for calculating rooms differs from that for bathrooms and kitchens because in this case the walls are calculated as follows:

First wall = width * height

And also the second, third, and fourth...

Then the total wall tiles are divided by the area of a single tile if the wall tiles differ in size from the floor tiles.

How to calculate the overall (cycle):

What is an apron, what is its importance, and why is it used?

A skirting board is a strip of tile that controls the harmony between the floor and walls. A well-chosen skirting board highlights the color of the wall and floor, adding a touch of elegance and taste. Its variety of shapes and colors offers a great opportunity to control the sense of space, as it separates the floor from the walls. For example, wide skirting boards in light colors create a feeling of spaciousness in small spaces, while dark, heavy skirting boards create a feeling of warmth in large spaces. Skirting boards can come in various shapes, including plain, patterned, or even match the floor tiles.

Different methods of calculating sins:

The calculation of the skirting board depends on the size of the ceramic tiles, as the height of one skirting board is 10 cm. For example, to calculate the skirting board for 40x40 ceramic tiles, it would be as follows:

If the skirting board height is 10 cm and the tiles are 40x40, we will have 4 pieces, each piece being approximately 40 cm wide. This means that one tile will be 160 cm, or 1.60 meters. Having already calculated the total area of the space, the total area of the room is divided by 1.60 meters.

For example, a room measuring 12 square meters would have 12/1.60 = 7.5. Since the ceramic tiles are 40*40 cm (6 tiles equal 1.20), the room would need approximately 2 square meters of ceramic tiles as a base.

In the same way, we calculate if the tile is 60*60 or any other dimensions.

Some points to consider when calculating ceramic quantities:

When calculating quantities, pay attention to the colors. For example, walls may contain two different colors of ceramic tiles, or they may also contain a different tile called a decorative tile. In such cases, the quantity is calculated based on the color ratio, for example, half or one-third and two-thirds, and so on.

Also, in the flooring, we must pay attention to the calculation process.

Choosing the dimensions for porcelain floor tiles:

  • For large open halls, a tile size of 120*120 is preferred.
  • The halls are rectangular in shape, preferably 60*120
  • For rooms that are 4x5 meters, 60x60 is preferable.
